Beyond Bars: A Journal of Literature and Art is currently accepting submissions in the following categories:

• Poetry
• Fiction
• Nonfiction
• Art

With a collaborative team of editors inside and outside the carceral system, we celebrate, curate, and publish the rich, diverse talents of individuals living within or impacted by the carceral system. At this time, we cannot offer payment but will provide a year subscription and two copies of Beyond Bars to our contributors.

Word Count and Length Expectations:

• Fiction (Short Stories) and Creative Nonfiction: Up to 7,500 words
• Flash Fiction: Up to 250 words
• Poetry: 5 poems, up to 10 pages total.
